"The Student Volunteer Movement sought evangelization of the world in their generation at the end of the 19th century. Today we are asking, can it happen again?"

We first approached the Wilder promo the same way we had other projects. The animation was smooth and ordered, with gently swift transitions. After twenty hours of work, the producers said the project was too clean. It needed to be gritty and edgy, like the movement the video is calling for. That meant going back to the drawing board, but it was the right thing to do, both for the project and me as an artist.

We had very few pictures of the time period and there was also a lot of inspirational text, which by its nature isn't very concrete. One of my mantras while animating was to show as much as possible and not just use text, which led to scenes such as the death bed. The goal of the dubstep/glitch-style ending was to take that style and push it even further.
