The poster for the No Hands Schwinn Documentary

Coming Fall 2024

No Hands: The Wild Ride of the Schwinn Bicycle Company is a documentary feature that explores Schwinn’s storied history, from the iconic Sting-Ray to its widespread influence in the worlds of BMX and mountain biking. Through the accounts of fans, collectors and the Schwinn family themselves, No Hands tells the story of a brand that changed American cycling forever and survived through the struggles of American manufacturing, family drama, fads and business forces that ultimately led to its demise. No Hands is the love letter to Schwinn that generations of kids deserve.

The Story

In summer 2023, I was referred to Daniel Clarke of Unfeatured Films. He was directing a documentary about Schwinn bicycles, and they needed a rough cut in 2 weeks. Was I available, and was that possible?

My answer was yes and yes. So we dove in.

Daniel and the team had collected incredible interviews and stunning b-roll about the history of Schwinn bicycles. They had a rough outline but needed to put everything together for a screening.

Using their excellent organization and transcripts, I grabbed soundbites and built out the chronological timeline. After 2 weeks, we had a 2-hour film.

Over the next 2 months, we honed in on the right soundbites, added available b-roll and archival material, and tightened the story to 90 minutes. This gave Daniel and his team the foundation they needed to finish post production.
